Mark founded the firm in 1975 when he and his wife moved with their three young children to live in the country just outside of Elgin, Texas. Following his service in the U.S. Army and his graduation from law school, Mark served as a briefing attorney for Justice Zollie Steakley at the Supreme Court of Texas. Following that, Mark worked with Wood, Boykin and Wolter for two years in Corpus Christi, Texas, with continuing gratitude to Marshall Boykin, Bob Wolter and Stewart Rice. Mark remains eternally grateful to have had his friend Ernie Bogart join the firm in the early days giving its backwoods beginnings a breath of continuity and certainty.

Mark has served his clients by maintaining a general practice in a broad-range of areas including extensive trial and appellate litigation, real estate, oil and gas, and mediation, and has been lucky enough to have had litigation and negotiations with some of Texas’ best lawyers and firms. Mark is a long-time member of the College of the State Bar of Texas. He is also a member of the Bastrop County Bar Association (President 1983-1984 and 1995-1996), the Austin Bar Association and the State Bar of Texas. He served on the State Bar Grievance Committee from 1997-2003.
